"For the last 21 years Africa’s longest running war has ravaged the northern regions of Uganda, home to the Acholi people. Over 2 million people fled their homes to seek safety. Some made it as far as Uganda’s capital city, Kampala, where they could only find refuge in a hillside slum, now called Acholi Quarters.

Acholi Beads are made by these refugees living in the Acholi Quarters slum. As they struggle to rebuild their lives, the sale of Acholi Beads provides a vital income and helps share their story with the world.

The beads are made from recycled paper from local printers. They are made by men and women whose families are, in the terminology of international aid and development, ‘vulnerable.’ This means that they don’t have a safety net. If something goes wrong they don’t eat, don’t get medicine, don’t go to school. Acholi Beads are made by 10 people from such families and are helping them go from vulnerable to successful."

As a 10 year old kid, I was trying to figure out how I can earn money to buy all of the cool things that I wanted to buy.  My family had a bunch of stuff they wanted to sell on ebay but didnt have the time.  They helped me open my own account and to date I have earned over $1,000!  I earned this by taking only 10% of the final sale price.  I also became an Amazon Associate.   If you, as a kid have any great ideas on how to earn money ........let me know!

My favorite tea to drink when I need to relax is Yogi Calming Tea.  You can find it at Jimbos or any regular grocery store that has a healthfood aisle.  It is about $4, but well worth it!   It is full of really great ingredients and smells like lavender.  I give it to all of my girlfriends when they need to have a little down time.  My favorite thing about the tea is the saying on each teabag. Namaste.......
   

I just bought a new Chanel lip gloss.  It is a bit pricey, but it looks great and lasts!  Sometimes it is fun to treat yourself to an expensive lip gloss. This one is called Eclipse and will set ya back about $26.
 

I love my William Rast Jeans!  You can find them at Nordstrom. 
My favorite are the 'Sadie' jeans.  They are $209 and worth it. 
They fit true to size and dont seem to shrink.

Well, school is starting and that means Soccer Mom, Room Mom, PTA and all of the the other amazing things that we as Moms and Dads must juggle. Keep checking back here for great tips and tricks to make all of these things fun and exciting.

1) If it is your turn for soccer snack......bring Otter Pops.  They can be kept in a cooler with ice, and are self contained (barely any mess). If they dont want to eat it now they can take it home and put it back in the freezer. 

2) Skip the Lemonade Stand.....have an Otter Pop stand.  They are super inexpensive and kids love them.  Now they also have Tropical Fruit Flavors.
